We participated in the visit organized by Augura and the Ministry of Foreign Trade to Urabá, where we presented progress and reaffirmed our commitment to economic and social development, highlighting the impact of Puerto Antioquia.

This visit, which toured different areas of this subregion in the department of Antioquia, brought together various national institutions and organizations to learn about the region, its significance, and its significant contributions to the banana industry. The visit also highlighted the direct impacts on the national and regional economy generated by this activity in the areas where it operates.

Ministerial Visit to Puerto Antioquia: Key to the Progress of Urabá

In addition to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism (MinCit), the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, the Ministry of Transportation, the Anti-Narcotics Police, the National Directorate of Fiscal Police, the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (DIAN), the General Maritime Directorate, Invima, the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), and Puerto Antioquia participated in this tour. The visit also included an inspection of the port’s construction, which by 2025, will handle nearly 7 million tons per year with its 1,340 meters of dock line. The construction is progressing satisfactorily, and to date, it has generated 2,800 direct jobs in the area.

During the days of this visit, the conversations among the representatives of the entities focused on strategies to improve operational efficiency in the logistics chain, security, the construction and consolidation of production and export policies, as well as the challenges posed by the incorporation of Puerto Antioquia into the banana industry ecosystem.
