Through our foundation, we have joined an inter-institutional alliance committed to transforming the municipality of Zona Bananera into a sustainable region.
Inter-institutional alliance for a sustainable banana zone
The formation of these alliances with companies from diverse sectors, along with our coordinated work with key stakeholders and local communities, enables us to contribute to nation-building by fostering development and well-being in the regions where we operate.
In this context, the recent signing of the inter-institutional cooperation agreement marks the beginning of a coordinated effort among CLAC FairTrade, Asobanarcoop, Coobafrío, Emprebancoop, Coomulbanano, Coobamag, Cortrabam, and our foundation. The aim is to improve educational infrastructure and promote culture, environmental stewardship, gender equality, and human rights in the schools of Armando Estrada Flórez (La Josefina campus), Rodrigo Vives de Andreís (La Bonga campus), and Macondo (José Celestino Mutis campus) in the municipality of Zona Bananera, located in the Magdalena department.
This project, set to commence shortly, will directly benefit more than 1,087 students and positively impact over 4,338 residents from these communities. The intervention will focus on three main areas: strengthening cultural identity, fostering sustainable development, and improving school infrastructure.
It is worth noting that, throughout the year, we have encouraged and supported the creation of these strategic alliances. Combined with our commitment to corporate social responsibility, fair trade, and the integration of social and environmental practices, these alliances enable us to promote natural resource conservation and cultivate a culture of sustainability in the communities where we operate. This joint effort represents a significant step toward building a more just and sustainable future for all.
