Unibán, Present at the 4th World Banana Forum

The recent World Banana Forum, organized by the FAO in Rome, highlighted key challenges and opportunities for the industry.

Experts, including the FAO Director-General QU Dongyu, emphasized the importance of bananas in food security and economic development, especially for small producers. The diversification of varieties and the mitigation of diseases such as TR4 were central topics. Additionally, the impacts of climate change and logistical challenges in banana trade were discussed. This event reflected the global commitment to improving sustainability and equity in the banana industry.

Carolina Jaramillo Ferrer, Director of Sustainability and of the Uniban Foundation, also participated in the World Banana Forum in Rome, organized by the FAO. Her presence not only represented our company but also highlighted Colombia’s commitment to equality within the banana industry, leading the way towards a fairer and more sustainable future.

This event showcased Uniban’s commitment to improving the quality of life and economic empowerment of vulnerable communities and local producers. These efforts are aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the FAO’s objectives.

In 2023, the Uniban Foundation contributed over $4 million to initiatives that positively impacted more than 100,000 people, including banana workers, small producers, and their families, through comprehensive programs dedicated to community well-being, environmental sustainability, and the promotion of equality.
