Melkis Pacheco combines his passion for music and his dream of becoming a leading figure in Vallenato folklore in his region with the technical rigour and fieldwork of his role as a certification and quality inspector at our Magdalena branch.
Melkis Pacheco – El cielo es testigo
Our colleague, originally from the village of Sevilla in the Zona Bananera municipality, is now a well-known local artist who has cultivated a significant solo career for over 20 years. This year, he has realised one of his greatest dreams with the release of a song he performed, titled «El cielo es testigo».
Melqui, as his colleagues call him, has been with the company for over 20 years, fully dedicated to the production and quality of the fruit we export and sell in international markets. Alongside his work, he has also built a notable music career in the region, performing at various venues across La Guajira, Atlántico, and his home department.
For several years, he has devoted part of his free time to composing and performing songs that speak of love, God, life, and his family—sources of inspiration that not only resonate in his music but also define him when he takes the stage.
This musical single, now available on YouTube and various social media platforms, tells the story of a couple in love, where the girlfriend informs her partner that she must go on a journey. The boyfriend, while outwardly calm about the news, confesses that he can’t help but feel unhappy, uncertain if he will be able to bear it. A love story disrupted by external circumstances, leaving the sky as the sole witness to all the promises and plans they had as a couple.
“It’s a dream for me to share my talent with my colleagues and to have their support for what I do, what I’m passionate about, and what I enjoy doing. This single is dedicated to each and every one of those who make up this Uniban community. It’s a song that portrays love as the feeling that can overcome everything,” Melkis Pacheco.
