Environmental protection and ecosystem preservation are key areas of focus for our foundation. Through school gardens, we have instilled in young people a deep interest in caring for and cultivating the region’s plant species.
Clonal Orchard: Cultivating the Future
We recently received great news during the celebration of World Environment Day—the school nursery at the Agricultural Educational Institution of Urabá has been awarded the ICA (Colombian Agricultural Institute) certification. Under Resolution No. 00018640, this nursery officially becomes the first clonal orchard in the department.
Currently, we have seven school nurseries distributed across various educational institutions and districts in the region. These nurseries are part of our foundation’s “Climate Resilience” program, which has been contributing to the region’s biodiverse management for over 10 years through initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change, protecting watersheds, forests, and preserving species of flora and fauna.
It is important to highlight the critical role that educational institutions play in achieving the objectives set by the school nurseries project. The dedicated and coordinated efforts of the Agricultural Institution of Urabá were instrumental in securing this certification, which fills us with pride and motivates us to continue working toward the care of the regions in which we are present.
